Cabbage Kootu

Delicious and simple recipe.

Ingredients :-
  • 1 medium sized cabbage
  • ½ cup chick peas (chana)
  • ¾ cup freshly grated coconut
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 2 or 3 dried red chillies
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt
Tempering:
  • 2 tsp coconut oil,
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds,
  • 1 tsp skinned black gram dal (white urad dal)
  • 7-8 curry leaves
Preparation Method :
  1. Wash and soak chick peas in plenty of water, for 8 to 10 hours.
  2. Boil it with a little salt. Keep aside.
  3. Grind coconut with cumin seeds and red chillies.
  4. Finely chop the cabbage.
  5. Add a little water, salt and turmeric powder and cook until done.
  6. Heat coconut oil and add the termpering ingredients.
  7. When the mustard seeds and dal splutter, add the cooked cabbage, ground coconut and salt (if needed).
  8. Simmer until thick. (To increase thickness, add a teaspoon of rice flour.)
